The StarsA Poem by The Word AlchemistI had never seen the stars before Until this night. The glorious amount of dazzling sparkle lit up the air with mystery. It was wondrous. It was breath taking. It was awe striking. They made me question my world as I knew it. What would it be like to go back? Back to when every place on earth looked exactly like this. What would the world be like if it all blacked out for just one night? Would the cities fall silent? Would the children growing up in places like New York City or Paris, France become wide eyed with the gleam of the sky? Would they even be able to wrap their heads around the mesmerizing sight of the Milky Way as it swishes around? What would my home look like without the lights? Would we all stop and stare? Would there be one night where everyone left their houses just to see the way
the cosmos glistened? Would the eyes of every human growing up in a world with no
stars suddenly open to realize the beauty of this world? Or would they all just let their minds flutter off? It seemed as though mine was. Because I'd never seen the stars before until this night. The stars, Speckles of white plastered before me on a whole black
canvas. The stars, Shining dots dangling in front of me by strings unseen from
a dark tinted ceiling. The stars, The stars, Oh, the stars. © 2014 The Word Alchemist |
