Watch the Road

Watch the Road

A Poem by BeetleBug

Ballad

"

Watch the road for old man Joe,

His wife is dead and his children too;

They died at the blade of a hoe,

But no one knows by who.

Watch the road for old man Joe,

His wife is dead and his children too;

If you find a man you don’t know,

Look to see if there’s blood on his shoe.

Watch the road for old man Joe,

His wife is dead and his children too;

Should you see him with a hoe,

Tell him quick it wasn’t you.

Watch the road for old man Joe,

His wife is dead and his children too;

If you find him down by the road,

Give him a bottle or two.

Watch the road for old man Joe,

His wife is dead and his children too;

He’s ut to get the blood of his foe,

But no one knows just who.
