Half-Heartedly

Short poem about holding back in love.

"I can only give you half my heart"
He said, "We'll split it through the core.
I can't give it all away just yet
But I'll swap half for half of yours."

I shook my head and told him "No,
If you give me half for half, then
We'll only have two half-hearts each
And that's just a heart that's broken."
