Breathe

Breathe

A Poem by Thyme13

Breathe.

It is almost over

the end is nowhere in sight

but you are tired,

your bones settled there in the bed,

we know your exhaustion.

Breathe.

I will hold you,

I stopped for you and now I support

your head in my arms, a lover's

tender touch. I dry the tears from your check

as they stream down your face. In this moment

we are both children.

Breathe.

Your eyes are afraid, racing around

looking for an escape, but you only see me.

Lay your tired head back,

close your eyes as I pull

the tube out of your throat

and

Sleep.

It's a difficult thing to grapple with, we think of how we treat other species sometimes, though who is responsible for the upkeep of the land and animals, and the circle of life, so many lives and their purposes

sometimes i feel that assisted suicide is a necessity to end a painful existence...or one that is merely existence but not really life.
a moving piece here.
