My Word Vs. Yours

My Word Vs. Yours

A Poem by Richard Mueller
"

I'll stay true to you, or so I'll try, while the other person next to me may lie

"
If my words are golden,
Then what does that make yours?

If my words embolden,
Then yours open to what doors, opportunities?
If my words inspire,
Then do yours dissuade?
If my words you admire,
Then how do you think yours, to me, persuade?
Words are a gift and a curse,
But only those worthy can wield
I promise to use mine for good, in verse
I don't know about you, so from yours, I'd rather shield
