OVERLOOKING KINNARET

OVERLOOKING KINNARET

A Poem by Raymond Pratt
"

KInnaret is the Sea of Galilee and the poem explores how Yeshua might have thought looking down on the lake as a storm blows down from the Golan heights.

"
Sharquiah winds, they strengthen from the east,
Through Gilead, from the great, red, desert wastes;
Past Grecian towns whose strange, exotic tastes
Have worried Pharisees and Temple priests.
And Miriam's village, Migdal, leads northwest;
Guards entry to the Valley of the Doves:
High lands of Ha Galil where family moves
May foster my attainment and arrest.
A storm approaches -- water changes mood
Where sailors from Kfar Nahum will ply
These warmer shores, so close to land nearby,
Downwind -- for an ill-chosen interlude.
What kind of man's this Peter in his boat?
Disconsolate, calling -- trying to stay afloat.
