Them Trees-Them Sooty Trees

Them Trees-Them Sooty Trees

A Poem by Victor ElvenSpire
"

An imaginative poem of twisted trees, and vengeful volcanic eruption...

"

Those gnarled old trees

Covered in murky black soot

Can’t ever seem to reach

Or to breach their lonely

Twilight

Those trees.

They stood in a circle once

They stood like silver glass

Beautiful, gleaming to the eye

With brass, they encompassed

The ever fleeting sky

But with the vain

They grew distain

From the earth below, from the rock and stone

Those trees.

They nearly fell in a circle

Those trees were bent like metal

With the hot flame of vindication

Those trees.

Too frightened to leave

Felt the world beneath them heave

And threw their branches in a mess

A jumbled, gnarled mess

With their leaves falling

Meeting sooty ground.
