Neglect & Regret

We all do it..

There are times
Where I've been neglected
& where I've been rejected.
I've had a great life
not because of what I have
but because my family,
made the best of what we had.
Only thing about life is,
You cant have the riches, cars, jewelry,
but its the things you want the most,
things you can only dream of doing,
that you can't have nor do.
Why are we told when we are young
You can have & do anything you set your mind to.
Well my mind was set,
Where are my riches as promised?
Are they on their way?
Expedited, First Class?
No they aren't
Status- Not Delivered...

Time isn't s place, There are times when, not where...
And... maybe you should have listened to the rest of the story... the bit where, after you get your mind set, you have to actually WORK to get the things you want. Gen. X? Y? Z?

I think it's probably one of the saddest things a parent can tell a child - that he or she can be or do anything they want. . . I have had to set my sights lower in order to achieve the things I want to do - not that I haven't achieved things that I never thought possible - it's just less of a let down when my thoughts aren't based in reality.
