A Poem by Tina N Vale
"

Initiating a texting session

"

Remember our first texts?

Oh wait,

I’m the one that obsesses about firsts,

You only care about nexts.

Let me rephrase then:

'Hey, smiley face, how was your day?"

Oh wait,

You're not in this for the chitchat,

You're in this for the sex.

Let me rephrase again:

'Hey, winky face, any plans for tonight?"

I guess that's alright.

I really love the lighthearted spontaneity of this, although it may only be superficial - there's a subtle darker edge to it as the sender rephrases the texts to impress the recipient. It's an interesting take on first love, trying to interpret another person's thoughts from their texts and needing to convey your feelings to them. I look forward to seeing more from you! :-)
