False Dreams

False Dreams

A Poem by tlaner

A numbness in my hands, the rock upon my chest, the thought lies scribbled beneath my skin.

Fading memories a reminder to the life I spit on, chased, desired flowed through streets with happiness.

What was me surely is not how I am.

Empty quotes of love, hair tangled in fingers, scratches on my skin reveal the words.

Unspoken thoughts shouted with every breath taken, choked, washed down with your contempt.

Smiling pictures in a foreign land.

They say they care but lie, eyes reflect to me, reading lines from my soul.

Misguided looks that weave between your hair, cut, a severing blow that tells your truth.

This was nothing more but loneliness.

Pale face that adores, a mask of who you are, my body read like a bad book.

Caressed stare that used to embrace, blinded, we forgot what it once was.
