Oscillation

We met in the dark

music stuck like sweat to my skin

I saw your wavy brown hair swaying

to Strangers in the Night

eyes met, hands held, souls touched

We twirled together

or maybe we didn’t move

We were the center

for that moment

it all swirled around

a girl with the sun in her laugh

and my dusty klutzy feet

when the song ended

You left as fast as you came

I never learned your name

but I have heard that

time is a circle

We have danced this dance before

and will again,

my eternal friend
