Eyes and Bottles and Eyes

Eyes and Bottles and Eyes

A Poem by Cindy Marietta

Each time I take a drink

I get pitiful stares

and

sorry eyes.

They think the bottle is my gradual killer

but really it’s

the only thing keeping me alive.

I know this all too well... my battered saviour...my intoxicated philosopher...

The poem is brilliant. You pose an assumption and give one of your own. Neither seeming to be the actual truth of the situation... You pen the facade of reality.
Very well done.

This strikes me on a personal level.

I love it. Short but deep.
