Promised Land - Poem #91

Promised Land - Poem #91

A Poem by toritto

Springtime
in the rural South land;
soon it will he hot and moist
like four teenage girls
in short shorts
sitting on a mat
in the gymnasium
trying to look sultry

A well seasoned town
with septic tanks
gators and armadillos
Friday night lights
churches and clean living
where everyone is drunk or high
bored or in pain

varicose veins and tourists
Canadian snow birds
pony tails and herpes
shopping at Walmart
camouflage clothes and white bread

afternoon rains
starry starry nights
blurring the lines
between the horizon and poverty.
