Forgive and Never ForgetA Poem by Riley JustineWe aren't always obliged to forgive everyone...Today I learned that I can’t swim Because forgiving you on a whim Is the most senseless thing I could’ve done; The equivalent of bringing to my head a gun. I can’t forgive myself for forgiving you. Today I learned that I can’t draw And allowing you back in was a flaw Once again you tore me down, Led me to the water and helped me drown I can’t forgive myself for forgiving you Today I learned that I can’t sing You led me back like I was on a string Inside my soul you impressed grief Tried to steal my heart like a thief I can’t forgive myself for forgiving you But today I learned that I can write And that a failure was your plight. Again you tend to nauseate And this time I will retaliate I won’t forgive myself for forgiving you © 2016 Riley JustineAuthor's Note
