Real Monsters

Real Monsters

A Poem by Riley Justine
"

But some have found a kind dragon...

"
My dragons tend to be blonde boys
Whose eyes are oceans,
Waves I can get lost in.
Too often do I forget,
Dragons are deceitful,
It's easy to drown in the ocean.

Somehow, I always convince myself
That the dragons come to save me
From the tower I've built around myself.
Too often do I forget
Dragons lie.
I built that tower to protect myself.

The last dragon was talented.
So talented that I was surprised when he spat fire.
He did more than just lie, he tore me apart.
Too often do I forget
Dragons are monsters.
Monsters are meant to be slain, not loved.

The above lines. Perfect and true. I liked how you used real life and dragons.
