A Book Saves

A Book Saves

A Poem by Riley Justine
"

Rowling and Dickens are saviours

"

A girl with her nose in a book

To lift her mind out of hell

Is constantly tormented by those who claim to care.

“You can snap out of it”

“It’s all in your head”

Spoken by family and “friends”

She struggles to lift her head off the ground

As people pretend to help but just trample her down.

Her soul is only damaged by more and more “help”

While she reads to be distracted.

Distracted from killer thoughts.

I was a book reader for 50 years now. Nice to find people who love a good book and escape to better places. Thank you Riley for sharing the excellent poetry.
