A Poem by T. R. Ash

I've been dreaming about you, dear The same pictures, the same lines Over and over And over again I dreamt that you lined up all of our friends Looked into their hearts Breathed deeply And then shot them each through the chest with a lead laced goodbye Anyone could imagine how painful the foreign metal felt As it leaked into their veins The proof layed in the liquid Erupting from their eye lids I dreamt you scooped up the world we share into the palms of your hands You looked all around it, sincerely studying all we have ever known As if looking for a better reason to stay Than the one you have to go Instantly you sliced it in half
Like a warm stick of butter I felt the ground erupt beneath my body We all did And as my feet began to slide into the crack of our hurt earth You caught my fall with your lips on mine And Just as I thought you had froze the end It only happened more quickly Then my eyes were open Wet, but looking at our world Still in tact Our friends lead free But days very numbered
