End of the World Perfection

End of the World Perfection

A Poem by T.C. Banks

My teacher passed out a sheet of paper to all of the students in the class that had a few questions on it.

If tomorrow really was the end of the world...

What would you do?

Where would you be?

Who would you be with?

Why?

What would be your perfect last day?

This is my response.

"No one knows the day or the hour."

So I'd start my day with a shower.

That quote is from Matthew 24:36 NIV.

So I'm not sure where I'd be.

I believe all that Mayan stuff is a Myth.

So I'm not sure who I'd be with.

I'm not one to worry about when I die.

So I don't think we should focus on why.

But if I got to choose what my last day would be.

I'd pick laying in bed, just my wife and me.

If I knew the very last minute,

I'd be in a full house with my whole family in it.

Wow, this is a really good poem Oscar Mike. The flow was good, and it rhymed well too. I agree with a good part of your answers. We don't truly know the day that everything ends. Not the hour, the minute, the second; so why worry about it? Everything will come to an end at one point, so why stress over it? There's a lot of thought going on in your poem, and it makes the reader think too. You start to think about what your answers would be for this, at least I do. Overall, this poem was fantastic, well written. :)

thought-provoking question...but i agree, i would choose to be with the one i love. excellent response to your teacher, esp. since it is written in verse.

I really enjoyed this - it has a nice rhythm to it and considering the relatively dark subject, you managed to keep it very up beat. I've been thinking a lot about the end of the world, for some peculiar reason, so reading this was really nice- I liked the thought process behind it, and the words really had meaning. I'd probably want to be with my whole family too. :)

if there's nothing to be done about it, why worry? anyway, if the mayans were such awesome progosticators, they'd still be here......
