Shark Beach

Shark Beach

A Poem by Perry

Not to return, she left her pail

upon the glistening sand,

then crashed into the mighty break,

and all its dazzling spray. Now

father's voice it rang out hard and

warned her back to shore, but riptide

bound, she floated free and reached the

coral edges, where sharks do bathe

and paint the foam, far from her

sun-drenched blanket, and seabirds

floating o'er the fray bear witness to

our summer days.
