![]() For You, AugustusA Poem by Paris HladeFor You, Augustusf
(Remembering
a Gentleman)
For
you, Augustus, Have
grown old,
Though
golden is your mane
And
you have Much
to do with gold, As
love you still retain
Beyond
the gate, The
cruel winds blow Where
death has
Not
a care
Yet
you would chance The
journey now,
As
you have loved ones there
You
are a king Of
kindly cats,
A
kindred life Grown
frail
That
gazes from behind a gate And
licks his shedding tail.[1] © 2023 Paris Hlad |
