The Temple's Fool

The Temple's Fool

A Poem by Paris Hlad

eThe Temple’s Foolf

May All Climbers Climb

Unharried & in the Eye of God

-P-

"Why climb you here?"

The crawler asked

“Why do you so unclad?

Hast thou a serpent in thy head,

That thou wouldst be so mad?"

The climber fiercely

Looked away,

As if he chided time

He said, "I am a climber, sir,

And climbers all must climb

I am the rarest of the rare,

The maddest of all men,

For where a temple rises high,

My climbing must begin.

I am a naked Son of Man,

Born in the vestibule,

A momentary act of God,

And this great temple’s fool.”

Thanks for your inquiry, marrwrites.

Although I wrote the piece without a specific biblical reference, I did want it to have a biblical flavor because the subject matter (the pursuit of the logos) is biblically inspired.

As a neo-dualist Christian, the pursuit of God's truth is required. Why? No one knows. In my poem, the temple climber is simply one who is chosen, and therefore, obligated to "climb the temple," to seek spiritual truth: 'Climbers all must climb."

Again, thank you for your interest.

Peace & Best Wishes.

A very interesting piece. I'm curious, was this inspired by anything? I'm not familiar with many classics or bible verses.
