![]() The Watch*A Poem by Paris HladThe Watch
(Or Gather What I May)
-P-
The rain unspools Like crystal thread Upon the satin beach, And small birds gather In a swale beyond The tidal reach
I have done now My lonely watch
And envy how they rest Upon the dank and chilly sands In friendship, breast to breast
The squall is passing overhead, And now, the moon appears
Upon a puddle near my form, And as the image clears,
I hear the surf And see the stars;
They bid me Here to stay
Among the Earth’s Small beating hearts And gather what I may. © 2023 Paris Hlad |
