For You, Augustus

For You, Augustus

A Poem by Paris Hlad

eFor You, Augustusf

(Remembering a Gentleman)

For you, Augustus,

Have grown old,

Though golden is your mane

And you have

Much to do with gold,

As love you still retain

Beyond the gate,

The cruel winds blow

Where death has

Not a care

Yet you would chance

The journey now,

As you have loved ones there

You are a king

Of kindly cats,

A kindred life

Grown frail

That gazes from behind a gate

And licks his shedding tail.[1]

[1]  Augustus passed away after a long and difficult illness.

I fell in love with Augustus, that adorable gentleman. A golden cat indeed. I hope he saw many, rich, wonderful years and I hope he is restored to his loved ones now after crossing the rainbow bridge with such courage. 🌈

"Beyond the gate,
The cruel winds blow
Where death has

Not a care

Yet you would chance
The journey now,

As you have loved ones there"

~ Such touching lines. Indeed, death has not a care for anyone, it always prevails.
