Unwakening Sleep

Unwakening Sleep

A Poem by James K. Blaylock

Unwakening Sleep

calling out, through this

ultra thick night;

and no echo comes,

nor screams of any delight;

all that's truly offered is

some sad roaming creep;

and it might just bite,

if we're not ready...

for that unwakening sleep

clearly about death, and very well done

I may have read this totally wrong, but I loved it the way I read it...and I'm sticking to it. The only unawakening sleep I know is death, and the lines fit that premise, and gives it a chilling feel. My mind also picked up a twinge of lightness
all that's truly offered is
some sad roaming creep;
and it might just bite,
if we're not ready...

Anyway, I loved it, just the way I felt it, and that's what counts. Rain..

I'm never ready. I fight going to sleep and then I fight waking getting up. Something's wrong with me but I can't figure out what.

Love this poem.
