For Amanda

For Amanda

"

Your naughty fingers
     Have a curious path
          Perturbed by my gravity

At length,
Through,
Within,
     Jade is no folly

Do you recall the busy bees
     Just beyond our table
          As we ate quietly
               In Paris?

We had tapeworms
     That devoured our stomachs
But we never learned
     To control them

Dark eyes stare at me
     From beyond the red hood
          -Stealing moments
          -Breaking hearts
I never learned
     To control them

There is no milk on your eyes
There are no wolves here

Dearest temptress,
     Desert shaman
     Woman of the cactus
Run to the wild,
     Open the cages
