Let me out!

Let me out!

A Poem by Nassira Merahi
"

The child inside is always there ... is never too far...

Let me out!

Let the child in you talk!

If you don’t have a pen,

Offer him/her a chalk.

Sit down and let it all rain.

The treasures you will find,

Are costless… and unique.

All hidden in the mind,

Waiting for your time to unclick.

Simple words will define,

Life and more in color.

Listen, hear, feel the sign,

A child is his/her own tailor.

Free spirit, no enclave,

The child in you is alive.

Surfing your moods on a wave,

Gathering shells as he/she dives.

I tell you as I remind myself,

Not to forget this little child.

Once we put him/her on the shelf,

Everything becomes wild!

Wow...I really love this! You know...I started writing poetry when I was nine years old (most of the poetry that I've posted here is from when I was a kid (im in my late twenties). This sounds like just the sort of poem that sparked my interest back then. I'd love to read more of your poetry.

What a great idea to add the colour... it truly makes the words live. As to the content, all true. There's a song that goes way back to my brother's days.. sung by someone called Harry Chaplin or similar.. I think the song's called 'Flowers are Red'.. it's very sad as I remember, but it could add more thoughts to yours. If I can trace it I'll let you know.

In the meantime.. sorry, went off on a tangent there.. your poem is sweet and true and more.. beautifully formatted. Thank you for letting me share it.

This is really good, and it makes so much sense since people these days are growing up way too early. An excellent poem and reminder.
