fear.

fear.

A Story by uma deepika patel
"

this isn't really a story at all. just a thought.

"
fear. it's a feeling that sits deep in your body and arises in the strangest ways. it's peculiar. you can confidently ignore it by filling your mind with anything other than it but as soon as you pause
let your mind wander
lay your head on your pillow
stop busying your brain with irrelevant thinking
it rises from it's perch where it sits latently in your body and moves up up up and hits you in the face.
fear.
and then you can't ignore it any longer. it's there. it's staring you down and it's big and it's ugly and it's making you feel like that little kid who's been running, running from the bigger kids and who trips, momentarily letting up, realising, as he picks himself off of the dusty unforgiving ground, it's no use any longer. he can't run any more. the big kids have caught up.
fear has caught up.
