In the Twilight Hours

In the Twilight Hours

A Poem by Alyssa Dufresne
"

Something special happens during twilight hours...

"

As Moonbeams dance
Softly - slowly
And a summer breeze
Can be felt rolling
graciously over mountaintops
Warmly through fields of corn
One can feel their soul reborn

Look deeper
Listen closely
To the sounds of spirits, mostly.
Can you hear the dew drops whisper
"Walk this way - come hither through these valleys. We shall guide you. Follow us, the Midnight Dew."
Afterwards, once you go on
Into the lands of Titania and Oberon
and dance with their cousins,
play a trick on Puck,
and visit Bottom,
Then take a walk

On to the pine forest
Listen again to the sprites
Accompanied by fireflies -
Watch their dance through the night -
See the luminescent sparks join the eternal stars

Continue on.

Speak not a word
Do not be seen nor heard

And when the valley fog rolls in
Be sure, again, to listen
to the silence of one's soul
Blend it with the twilight spirits
and make a whole.

Turn your ear back to the dew
that glistens as morning shines through
In blues and reds and violet go-betweens
Observe tranquility of the scene
As songbirds rise -
Yellows and blues, contrasting -
Always heard, hardly seen -
Make their break
Announcing day
Telling the world
"Get up, get up -
Time for work, time to play!"
Forgetting to mention
you can sleep when you're dead.

But the unspoken commandment remains:
"Thou shalt not forget the simplicity of the night
Thou shalt listen to the spirits
that guide when there is no light."

Can't think of a good tite...

Damn Stephanie Meyer. I would use "Twilight Hours" for the title, but then I would have 2,000,000,000,000 Twilight fans swarming all over it. (I understand that there are only 6,500,000,000 people on this planet, but I'm sure somebody would use their psychic powers to contact the local vampires, Martians, werewolves, fairies, Loch Ness Monsters, ghosts, unicorns, wizards, giants, trolls, and other random life forms to come with them. (I just do not have enough space to fit that many creatures without an FBI investigation arising. Heh. :-D )

Hey, if anyone can think of a good title - be my guest.

This is draft 1. Improvements are welcome too. I almost think I should cut it down to the first stanza. I dunno...

According to your poem, the spirits guide us, I believe that.

you can sleep when you're dead.----
I still get told that

But this-----
But the unspoken commandment remains:
"Thou shalt not forget the simplicity of the night
Thou shalt listen to the spirits
that guide when there is no light."
------says there is no sleep

which if you ask me.... says a great deal for your spiritual observations and your ability to write it so well.
