Chasing Snowflakes

Chasing Snowflakes

A Poem by Alyssa Dufresne

I wish

that I
could jump out of that window.

But instead of
falling to my death,
I would land on my feet, gently
sink into the snows crunchy layers.
The layers
untouched
by humans and other animals.
(For it was too late in the day for anyone to be out
when the snow came.)
It is smooth and white
like the newly mopped kitchen floor.

The full moon
seems to like to look at herself
through this frosted over mirror.
But can you blame her?

I am sure that when I jump
from my bedroom window,
I will slide across the frozen blanket
in my socks.

And it will be fun.

I liked it. It actually made me think about what it looked like, how fun it would be to view the beautiful untouched snow. You really did well with imagery!

The cadence of this was perfect, and the imagery was very bold. It felt sort of like the images superglued themselves to my brain, and only after a while of weathering did they fade off into the background.

The only thing I can think may need a little fine tuning, is that a couple of very small pieces were slightly choppy and gave the reader a moment of unneeded pause. However most poems have that, and it's damn near impossible to work out for most people, or even pinpoint for most readers, so it's only a very minor thing.
