![]() Chasing SnowflakesA Poem by Alyssa DufresneI wish that I
could jump out of that window.
But instead of
falling to my death,
I would land on my feet, gently
sink into the snows crunchy layers.
The layers
untouched
by humans and other animals.
(For it was too late in the day for anyone to be out
when the snow came.)
It is smooth and white
like the newly mopped kitchen floor.
The full moon
seems to like to look at herself
through this frosted over mirror.
But can you blame her?
I am sure that when I jump
from my bedroom window,
I will slide across the frozen blanket
in my socks.
And it will be fun. © 2009 Alyssa DufresneAuthor's Note
