A Forever

A Forever

A Poem by Kayla
"

have you ever seen your best friend change before your eyes?

"

It’s been a long time

Since I last saw you

It’s been a long time

Forever if you will

You left to heal yourself

To become who you wanted to be

To rise above your world

And dance free in uncharted territory

I was excited when you said

“I’m back for good”

I was so happy for you

But I did not expect what I saw

You changed alright

But you became worse

You became heartless and mean

You left who you wanted to be

In the dust of your despair

Forever is always changing

Did you know that

Your choices make your forever

And you have to live with it

You can’t hole back what you feel

Because then you don’t have a forever

You’re not living

Merely existing

No emotions is worse than pain

Because to experience pain

You need joy

Joy is wonderful, don’t leave it

Please don’t lose yourself

Try to hold on to your life

Hold on to an image, a memory

Try to hold the innocence

Forever is always changing

Is our forever gone

Do we have a forever anymore

Best friends forever

We made that pledge

Through thick and thin We’d stick together

As long as we knew ourselves

The sky was the limit

Is that not your forever anymore

Are we a past memory

Of lost and broken forevers

You lost yourself and your forever

You can’t see any forever now

And I’m scared for you

Forever is always changing

Did you know that
