More of a song or spoken word than a standard poem. This piece is about the world and the disasters it now faces. Too many people are turning a blind eye to the steady decay of humanities future.

What do I give that they have not already taken.

Where do I go that the light has not already forsaken.

My will they are constantly breaking.

My dreams now known to be sadly mistaken.

I give and break because I know what is at stake.

I live and they take, I hope some day they too will be awake.

The world around us is burning.

All this ash and still no one is learning.

What reason can I give to make it not so grey.

How do I think yet have to be careful what I say.

My mind is no battle field, but it's scarred from wars.

My dreams contorted, now nightmares by the scores.

I give and break because I know there's more to make.

I live and they take, I am well aware of the grass and the snake.

The world around us is burning .

All this ash and still no one is learning.

What more must burn,

before you too yearn to learn?
