Distraught

Distraught

A Poem by Toni Nicole

Glaciers fall in this sunlight
and with rain, the days past.
I lift my eyes to say goodbye
and turn to face the sunset.
Still nostalgic within darkness.
I remember those nights were alive;
surrounded by emptiness, not at all alone.
When stars shone forever.
You are truth in all that is left.
Ash drapes the floors
as hope burns to the ground.
All that stands is your silhouette.
How dare I to trust shadows?
Do you stand beside me?
Or have mine eyes deceived once again?
As summers dawn is near to come,
I wake to see happiness, again.
And you beside me.
