The Rape Of What's To Come

The Rape Of What's To Come

A Poem by Julius Whitfield

it does seem i gave so much to this world now that i have nothing

through beaten times of a silent lush has only faded my guide

a face of ill opportunities has retched the lines of an opened mind

refuse to grow from your blistered beliefs

in your pain, you wait to rest in your sorrow

when you haven't yet paid for what's yet to become

you whistle a singing mellowing chant with those strong embracing hands choking you from aback

hey, what did you do? what did you do that was so wrong?

hey, what'd you do that this is how you had to live?
