Supernova

Supernova

A Poem by Julius Whitfield

This star that's been possessed

Glows on

Through these eyes, the image is reborn

Into the lungs pulsates a reflection of gold

Just to return the sensation

In time, to unveil what's been disposed

before i dissipate the knowledge of my own soul

this star that boils in me is my own

this star that's frozen my nerves is my own

this star that singes to my spine is my own

this star that has pulled me out of my grave is never wrong

Guilt nailed to my back

and pain in my eyes

bleak is such silence

and it still shows

under this empire

is the bare of this change

will one ever transpose?

What's been built is now burning

and i've been choking on the smoke of my own adversity

this star dismantles and the imperium falls

with the strength of a mountain

lightning strikes stones from the sky

and pillars fall weak to the architecture

but the heart stays beating

and the mind is quite alive

and theres this landslide of blood to covet the pure

with these scars forming out of my eyes

and the sounds in your mind

there's nothing to keep the me from survival

but I cling to it anyway

clinging to a world that's been downcast by us all

calling through to the world that you've left alone to exploit
