The Babydoll

The Babydoll

A Poem by Julius Whitfield

This result is a consequence
Of you feeling so tired
Wipe those salty tears from your eyes
You're not longer empty or a bit shy
So reach out to the sky and don't be afraid

When tonight you're alive

Try to rest your lungs
Cool down the bruises on your face
While he disinfects the scars on his fists
It only makes me want to cry
When I know you're hell of a lot stronger
Than the victim you've made yourself out to be

Di you recall the eyes
When he knew you kept another man in mind
He bound you to the walls
As if you were his and his alone
And you cry tonight
Fearful to the thought of continuing this lie

This grave is getting heavy
Its starting to look more like the place you'd love to be
Choking on happiness left you blind to everything
And you close your eyes, dissensitized your feelings tonight...
