But it was more than just uneasiness

But it was more than just uneasiness

A Poem by Verity-Belle
"

As a gay woman, I tried to encompass what I felt growing up and being with my girlfriend in public.

"

But it was more than just uneasiness,

Encompassed by the loneliness,

Coming of age but not feeling the same

As the other girls around, wanting their guy’s last name.

Internalising who I could love,

Grew an anger, unmovable, intolerable of

The wounding words of closed minds

But this love I have found is one that blinds

Their daggering eyes and shifting in their seats

Questions about life beneath the sheets.

Murmurs never lowered, but directed,

Still grasping your hand tighter, unaffected.

Gee
If you think it's bad now trot back in time 20, 30+ years ago. Now it is common place to see hand holding, same sex couples out and about, with mainly just the older generation frowning, tutting, " it's not right that, not normal"
Live and let live, good on you.
I would have been a lesbian if born a woman, LOVE women.
Enjoyed the read Verify B
