Fool's Query

Fool's Query

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

What is love?

"

                  Fool's Query
Why do you ply me with riddles,
That I do not understand ?
Why placate me with whispers,
That have no meaning said out loud?
Why do I choose you with no regret,
My decision worn with pride?

While your love is only shown ,
When  there is no one to bear witness,
What kind of love asks you to hide,
And condemns you to the dark ?
What kind of love hurts like a dagger buried in your chest?
Could this be the emotion sired by cupid's bow?

This kind of love that you portent,
Could be misconstrued as hate,
This kind of love that you lay siege to,
Could tear my soul apart,
Were I to convince myself that this  indeed  is love,
Then call me a fool because that title I have earned.

Beautiful poem and very well written......i really liked it! And i agree with you......why do poeple tell riddles instead of just speaking their heart, when it comes to expressing love.......and more particularly, in front of others. They will never know love in its true form.
Great read! Keep sharing!

Love is like crack. It's expensive, the high is incredible, it doesn't last long and in the end all we do is jones for more despite how hazardous it is. Good poem

Thank you very much love is exactly like that lol:)
I must say I was captivated by the message that you were trying to send in this piece. This was a beautiful piece and I was greatly impressed by what you had said here and the points that you send. Although you may not see it nor others may see it, the beautiful thing about writing is when you write you write with an intended purpose, but by having other people with different perspectives read your artwork, you can see the different point in views that are condemned within the thin lines of the words you created with the flow of your mind. This was a different piece of writing that I am not used to reading and I am so grateful you send me a reading request for it. My sincerest apologies that it took me so long but I have been busy busy busy!!!! However, if you ever have another request feel free to let me know. Of course I will always make time to see what my friends have written and what is new within the community. Thank you my friend for allowing me to read this :) :) :) Hope to hear from you soon! Your presence is well enjoyed!

Your welcome my kind writer!
What kind of love condemns you to the dark? No kind of love at all. I like how the poem is overflowing with questions, and how it seeps the sense of doubt and bewilderment. "Where I to convince myself that this indeed is love, then call me a fool because that title I have earned". Brilliant ending. A great piece this is.

Thank you so much michelle for your lovely review:)
Interesting, food for thought for anyone eating themself up about a love that hurts and not understanding why the theory and the practice are incompatible.
"What kind of love hurts like a dagger buried in your chest?" is an excellent line. The poem conveys hope, pride and sadness to me. What is love indeed?

A pleasure, Vidya, always worth taking the time to read your work.
No, this is not love. Love is warm and soft and caring. It does not placate a partner and it does not tear a soul apart. Powerfully emotional write. I am sure you know the answer to your question....and also know what you must do if you are experiencing such "love". Well written. lydI**

I hate calling someone as beautiful as you 'fool' ... by the way, i don't know why am feeling that 'Neon' did something bad with an angel so .. is this write labeled on 'Neon' that he made an angel wild and so warm about him towards his hotness and put an angel into a situation where she's calling herself a fool???
