Dwindling

Dwindling

A Poem by Lauren N. Rodriguez

And as I pass the time
Always questioning the clock
I'm sitting and waiting
So anxious to see him
Every thought in my mind threaded around him
Unraveling
Unveiling
That he is all my mind is made up of
And I count the times
Do remember my dreams
Reminiscing the first smiles
That dreamy look in his eyes
Recording each touch
Each escaped laugh
The fires beneath us
And the ones burning behind our ribs
I do remember always loving him
And know that I always will
He is the cure in my life
My silent prayer answered
He is the fire in my eyes
The glow of my soul
Without his love
No, I would've never known
And today I wait
Ready to tally off the hours
Crossing them out
One after the other
Because by the end of the day
I shall see my lover
And how I beg for his angelic kiss
His strengthened arms
Wrapping around me
Calming me
Seducing me
Lulling me
It's hypnotic
Yes, I am under his spell
For I do believe ^in magic
And his ways his words
These are no ordinary potions
Blindly I do never follow
For it is his heart not his wand that has spoken
So love him all day
As before
And to come
Waiting
And
Wishing
For the day to be done
Picturing his smiling face
His smile all mine
Sharing his tongue for a taste
For that is mine as well
And ^in this man
This being
This soul
I have found the things
I would never have known
So count the kisses
Do catch them all
And later today
In your arms I shall fall
For if love was ever real
Oh mercy, I have found it
My life now so surreal;
No way to live without out it
Without his love
The green fire ^in his eyes
The soft spoken words
And his calculated rhymes
His singing voice
As he makes love to me slow
Oh these are the things I love and constantly miss
As asleep right now he doesn't even know
But soon he will come
And yes, take me away
Traveling to forbidden places
That only seem right
And when he does this our souls do collide
So just one more memory
Do I ever recall
One last kiss
And yes, that is all
