"Great Sense of The Absurd"

"Great Sense of The Absurd"

A Poem by Tara

"You have a great sense of the absurd."
Best f*****g compliment I have ever received.
Other women do not understand why I blushed.
Regale them with tales of how beautiful they are,
How supple their skin is,
How you want them to have your babies.
Not  me.
Tell me you find my trucker mouth endearing.
Smile at me while I headbang to Metallica
and then go and tuck our children into bed
with prayers and princess stories.
Shake your head and laugh
as I fall asleep, duck pajamas and all
 exactly four minutes after
being the life of the party
and tell our guests this is why you love me.
Read my poetry
and tell me
I have a great sense of the absurd
and I will entertain you forever.

This is a really fun piece. I might break it up into stanzas a bit, as I felt a bit rushed, but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

The best compliment to receive is being loved for who we are. This is written well.

I think we'd have made great drinking buddies

as long as the duckie pajamas aren't flannel...

I like this, it's always a wonderful feeling when someone " gets you" and cuts through social expectations and is just honest.
