Barely Blue

Barely Blue

A Poem by Tara

She awakens to a world
barely blue with laughter.
Sky, the color of infinite sand,
pale twilight,
a hint of memory.

It is good to be alone
here in the shadow of morning,
hope slowly rising
against the cruel blessing of sun.

This is a place of silence.
In this small slip of time
before even poets rise
with sonnets on their lips,
there is a brilliance
illuminating all
the night has hidden.

Here, trees are brushed wet;
greens yellows amber golds.
Branches come alive
opening arms
in forgiveness.

Somewhere a lone gull
glides amid the laughter
welcoming the madness of rain
knowing each beat of his wing
brings him closer
to the heaven he seeks.

She awakens to a world
barely blue with laughter
now aware that
it is she who must choose
the shades with which to color it

You just gave me chills. I cannot believe the detail of that foggy glow before sunrise here, the moments I used to savor (before motherhood, now I savor them with my eyes closed).

You hold a paintbrush in your fingertips. You type watercolors brilliant enough for the most prestigious museums, you have a relationship with the english language that occurs only in the greatest of love stories and you allow your readers to feel it for brief moments...

Amazing. I've missed your brilliance.

God I love that time, but will not do it
by myself anymore, morte.
So good to be by the water;
always a presence/friend.
Being alone is better than having
a nuisance; then I am my own bother.
Nothing better than good company
and a like soul. "Hey hey, my my.'

Clean, fresh, straight to the substance of the things and feelings depicted. Simple in the most positive meaning of the term. Yes, it is brilliant indeed.
