Just a Kiss

Just a Kiss

A Poem by Lia
"

We had to brainstorm words we associated with different things in English class the other day, and then partnered to make a poem. This is the one that I created with my friend.

"
By the sandbox,
As playmates look away.
The innocent children
Catch their first glimpse
At love.
Young lips meet,
Then become strangers,
As others giggle.
Just to try it out.

At the doorstep,
After the first date.
The naive couple
Find themselves
In a fairy tale.
A breath of relief,
After a nervous kiss.
Just to say goodnight.

During the wedding,
After the vows.
The newly wed couple,
Gets trapped in the pull
Of true love.
The echo of the kiss
Rings infinitely louder
Than the applause of loved ones.
Just to say "I love you."

In the hospital,
As tears fall,
Hands gripped tight,
The monitor stops.
Words unsaid,
Things undone.
And one final kiss,
Just to say goodbye.
