Memories

A Poem by Joseph Cooper
"

Sonnet

"

In my mind your image does rest deeply

Calling me to lay in your sweet embrace

The clouds above protect so steadfastly

As I drown in the smile on your face

Upon your lips do linger my respite

And your flowing hair drenches my wrapped hand

The sky does open and creates a slit

And the torrential rains come down unplanned

The rain pours down upon your reflection

Slowly the water and you become whole

Lost now to my distant recollections

Sad memories wade in my lonely soul

Time has swallowed your reflection complete

My heart left to wallow in its defeat.

A very sad, but lovely poem.
Keep up the good work.
