Anesthesia

Anesthesia

A Poem by Katia Silverfyre
"

Everyday we become more numb

"

In the blink of an eye
Like a nuke soaring across the sky
Within the smile of a homeless man
Deep inside the mind of a killer
Connections are broken
Replaced with consensual amnesia
Created as the perfect anesthesia

Consuming blue pills, discarding red ones
Playing life like a violin and breaking all the cords
If you begin to vomit acid, please consult your doctor
So that you can commit mental suicide

The television is on, have all of the children pay attention
So that they can learn how to master puppetry
The men behind the curtain will teach them all they need to know
Emotional decapitation

At the end of the day, be reassured
As you sleep next to the wife or husband (whichever applies) that hates you
That you can wake up the next day, blend in with the rat race
Take the anesthesia that poisons the soul and blackens the mind
