Ma chere

Ma chere

A Poem by Jemima Laing

My dearest one

I don't think you realize

Just how wonderful you are

So I think it's time to equalize

Your thinking and my own

You say you're a failure

That you're inadequate

You say that you can't do anything right

And if you try you just flail

Your mind is so complex

And some parts I cannot grasp

Like how this attitude infects

Your entire mindset

You lock yourself in a box

And do not reach outside

You have no self confidence

Which I can't abide

You have so much potential

I guess you just can't see,

How much you have done

Which is just plain silly

It's pure agony to watch

As you rip yourself apart

I wish you could see yourself

Through my eyes

You say I'm biased

I say I'm wise

Please trust me when I say this

I hope that you comprehend

You are the most amazing person

That I have ever cherished
