Synopsis/Basic plot intro

Title explains it all.

The year is 2897, though not many have kept track. The world ended some time ago, but no one knows how or when. However, some people did survive the apocalypse, and time has passed enough for larger communities to form again, and foliage has begun growing again, and items from the Before Time have been discovered, and are appearing again. Alec Cradeau is a man of 20, living in a settlement in what was once Martha's Vineyard. He's the son of a relatively wealthy store owner there, and as such, has some things that others do not. But one day he receives a message, summoning him to The Apple, a large settlement built in the ruins of New York City. With this, Alec is thrust into the war between the many factions and powers of the Northeastern United States, unsure of who to trust, and what to do.
