Behind Those Eyes

Poem from high school (around 2003). Teen angst and moodiness

If you look behind those eyes, 
You will find an empty soul, 
A lost cause, 
A nobody. 

She doesn't know 
Why she is here, 
What purpose she serves, 
When will it end. 

She lives each day, 
And wished it was her last, 
So everything could just end, 
Making everyone's life easier. 

She always thought of herself 
As the type that would never give up, 
She knows this is easier said than done, 
She knows that some day she will give up. 

Somedays life is meaningless to her, 
She is mad at the world, 
She doesn't know why it tured its back on her, 
She just wants to end it all. 

She wants to end it because of pain and sorrow, 
But doesn't want to cause pain and sorrow, 
She wants to be an empty soul, 
So she won't feel. 

She thinks its a small price to pay, 
To never feel pain again, 
She may never feel happiness, 
But she thinks its worth it. 

Life isn't a game to her, 
And if it was, 
She would always loose, 
She would never win or gain. 

And one day, 
If she ever gains, 
She may return to the reality, 
She may just be happy again.
