First TimeA Poem by VSThe first-time experience of thingsIn the times when the heart swims in a void In the moments that you reminisce a thing of past Realizing it's gone, will never last You walk along hoping for a repeat of times When you really heard the wind's chimes Of a happy tune resounding throughout Like the nature's lute playing about. When you'd first climbed that mango tree Or you'd first walked alone on the street; When you'd first laughed all day long On your first attempt at writing a lousy song; When you'd first stolen those cookies for a friend, Or jars of jam that he'd recommend, Stealthily from your mum's treasured porcelain Breaking a few, as before, once again; When you'd first eyed that pretty girl And first felt your heart flutter ad twirl, When you'd first mouthed 'i like you' to her And saw her eyes float with blissful tears; When you'd first laid on the pastures, with her beside Holding hands, counting the stars all night, Drenching in the moon's golden hue It's soothing warmth gently enveloping you. Or when you'd first witnessed that breaking dawn As the morning sun briefly peeped from the horizon, Unwilling to break the cozy winter's slumber Of the tired and exhausted, sleeping members. When you'd first felt a grown man In the quest of your goal (a vague plan), When you'd first chosen to take The road that wasn't unto taken; The journey that's en route thorny paths and tough terrain, Where heaps of sighs and bloody sweat do also reign, And every firm step you put forth ahead Sadly, pulled you back twice instead; Yet, when you actually choose to remain Undeterred, unperturbed, and smile through the pain, That's the first time you feel truly alive To every moment that weaved your beautiful life! © 2017 VS |
