Hi, I'm New Here

Hi, I'm New Here

A Poem by Vanessa

She heard me utter

my first words of rebirth

and breathed my new breath.

To prepare for my arrival,

She washed the city clean.

Her tears of happiness

are a purification ritual,

their baptism.

With the wind as a swaddle

She said,

"Let's go home."
