After Ms. Greyhelder had informed me that I would indeed be needing stitches, she called my dad to ask him to come get me so a professional could stitch me up. Unfortunately, what with his busy work schedule he couldn't get off to pick me up but luckily he didn't dare to mention my mother. Ms. Greyhelder just couldn't have me suffer and so she 'kindly' agreed to have Andi take me to the hospital. That's where I am right now. The hospital. Have I ever mentioned how deeply I hate hospitals? Well, now you know. The smell and feeling of death just seems to float around, teasing and tempting every patient within its walls. Its so incredibly-
"OW!" I screeched as the needle pierced my skin roughly.
I flipped my head up, glaring daggers at the nurse who seemed to joyfully poke and prod at me. Man…if looks could kill..
I felt smooth, warm hands run over my clenched fists and glanced up to meet Andi's unfaltering gaze. He pulled at my hands, relaxing them and entwining our fingers in an intricate design. I felt a smile form on my face and for the first time gave Andi a genuine smile. Even though I would never admit it to him I was enjoying his comforting gestures. And those mesmerizing eyes..
There was a pat to my knee from the nurse, earning her another glare as she cheerfully stood up.
"You're all done sweetie!" she said in a chirpy, over exaggerated tone.
Ugh. What was her name anyway? I cast a glance down - Mrs.Birch? I laughed to myself. Just change the r and what do you have? Mrs.B***h! Ha ha, yes I know I'm mean.
Andi tugged at my arm, "Thanks..," he too looked down, "Mrs.Birch. We'll just being going."
"Alright. You kids have a wonderful day and stay safe! Bu-bye now!" her overly chipper voice followed us out of the room.
Andi playfully pushed at my shoulder, "Ha! Did you see her name tag?! If you just switched the r if would be Mrs.B***h!"
I gaped at him. Wow, great minds truly do think alike. Now I really do have to get to know this one better…
He placed a firm finger under my chin and his palm on the top of my head effectively closing my mouth.
"I know I'm sexy and all but enjoy the humor of this moment rather than my sexlicous bode, alright hun?" Andi spoke, his signature smirk falling into place.
I restrained myself from slapping the smile right off his face, "For your information, I wasn't stunned by your self-proclaimed "sexlicous bode", I was merely surprised because I had been thinking the exact same thing."
We stopped abruptly and I realized we had arrived at his truck.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night. Get in." Andi's voice traveled over the car as he walked over to the drivers side and hopped inside.
I stamped my feet but got in the truck nonetheless. As I settled into the passengers seat a thought occurred to me. Andi could drive. I was merely a freshmen, only 15. If you do the math correctly you'll notice I can't drive yet. Andi can.
As the car started up, I turned to face Andi.
"Hey.. How old are you exactly?"
I noted the surprise on his features, "17. Yourself?"
"15″ I murmured, keeping my gaze fixed on his face, waiting for his reaction.
His eyes flashed but soon returned to their normal glimmer of confidence, "No, seriously? How old are you?"
Becoming frustrated, I smothered a scream of annoyance, "1 5."
The confidence faded and glint of mischievous entered his eyes and tone, "Oh really.. You're quite..uh..grown up."
*SLAP*
"OUCH! What the hell was that for!?"
"Did your mother not teach you to respect women?! If we're going to be friends, you need to learn some manners!"
"W h a t e v e r." he sighed, turning in his seat to back out of the parking slot.
Silence stained the air as we navigated our way out of the parking lot and onto the road. My thoughts kept me busy as he drove along.
Andi was…Andi was odd. Seriously I couldn't think of any other way to describe him. There was just so much going on. The other thing that seemed to even remotely stay the same was his level of confidence and even that had disappeared a few times. I didn't understand him but I vowed to. Something told me I should invest in this guy. Become his friend.
A jar from the road knocked me out of my thoughts. Where the hell were we?!
"Where the hell are we?!"
Andi laughed, looking over at me in amusement.
"My favorite place in this world."
