Cut A Wish

Cut A Wish

A Poem by walking.in.rain

When you cut,
How does it feel?
In the moment,
What are you thinking?
What would happen,
If you looked back?
On all the cuts and scars,
Would you remember?
Why they're there,
Or is it all one big blur?
In a few years it won't matter,
All this pain will feel so small.
Remember if you go too deep,
You won't have time to stop.
No matter what you think,
People really do love you.
There's so much in life,
That you can live for.
Somebody can always help you,
I'm sure someone's willing to talk.
The pain you must be feeling,
Shouldn't be yours alone.
If you're trying to hide,
Trying to numb the pain,
I promise you it'll just come back.
Cutting will just make it harder.
I know what its like,
To be hurting this bad.
That it feels,
Like there's nothing else.
Believe me when I say there is,
So much more.
And things to do instead.
People love you, people care.
Listen to the help that's out there.
Just try to hold on,
Think before you do it,
Talk it out,
Stop yourself, it'll be okay.
There's so much out there,
To save you.

Author's Note

walking.in.rain
As an ex- cutter I think it's important for people who have cut or are thinking about it to realize that there are way better ways to fix yourself. Talking is key and letting your feelings out doesn't make you weak, it makes you that much stronger to admit to a fault. Let someone, anyone, help you. Cutting will never make things better in the end.
